During the meeting between Mr. Mansur Saeedi, CEO of Sunir, and Mr. Adel Karim, Minister of Electricity of Iraq, the progress of the 320 MW Dibis gas power plant project in Iraq was reviewed.
According to the public relations and international affairs of SUNIR Company, on Tuesday, 28/12/2021, Mansur Saeedi, CEO of SUNIR Company, and his accompanying delegation met with Mr. Adel Karim, Minister of Electricity of Iraq.
In this meeting, Mansur Saeedi, while thanking the efforts and unwavering support of the high official of the Ministry, presented a report on the progress of the project. He also pointed to the many problems and obstacles that have been imposed on SUNIR over the years and said that the first unit of the Dibis power plant will enter the circuit on time, next summer.
Mr. Minister, Adel Karim, hoped that SUNIR, as a great company with a brilliant record in Iraq, would launch the project on time and would not withhold any support to make it happen.
The high official of the ministry also brought the problems of gas shortage in Iraq and its impact on electricity production in the country, with referring to the announce readiness of Sunir Company for trilateral cooperation for energy swaps through Iran, he would support Sunir’s initiative in this regard.
Also, during this trip, Mansur Saeedi and his accompanying delegation met with Iraj Masjidi, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq, regarding the mentioned cases.
It is necessary to explain that the construction of Dibis power plant, including two gas units with a capacity of 160 MW each, is underway in the city of Dibis in the Kirkuk region, with the aim of increasing the country’s electricity production.
